Winter is coming. Are you ready to survive in the Cold.

Are you ready to Survive in the Cold?  Learning how to make it in the wilderness is one thing.  You always see movies when people are building small little log cabins and planting crops in the spring and living off the land.  They never show you the dark side of things.  When winter sets in.  If you don't have certain things done by first snowfall then you risk the chance of dying in the winter if you were in desperate situations.

You should have some things done before the first snowfall comes.  You should have some cans of food packed away.  Your rice and beans should be stored away.  Water should be stored away.  Smoke meat should be stored away nicely.

If you are smart you should have a few tools with you.  Do you have the correct layers of clothing. You could start off with this Under Armour Gunpowder Scent Control Jacket .  Do you have the correct glove and hats that you need to survive the winter.  You can do it if yo plan well.  I would not like to stave to death in the Winter time.  I would do all I could to make it to the spring.  I hope if I had to I would be ready to survive in the cold.

Why You Need To Have A Bug Out Vehicle If Your Gonna Make It To Your Bug Out Shelter.

You need a good vehicle to make it to your bug out shelter.  I hope that you would have a vehicle when TSHTF.  I would not want to be walking in a time like this.  The vehicle would be able to carry a lot of supplies that you have packed away for some rough times that you may be coming upon.  If you really have the money you could always pull a bug out trailer too.

I would like to have a vehicle that has a high clearance so I could roll over stumps and sidewalks if I needed to with out tearing up my bug out truck.  I know the vehicle is going to be a gas guzzler but that is a risk that I will take.  If all else fails I could just park it and hide it until I was able to get more fuel. It could also be a great shelter if you had a Coleman White Water Large Cool-Weather Scoop Sleeping Bag to lay in  I would have to have a secret bug out location that I could feel comfortable and park my bug out truck.  If I had time each bug out shelter would have enough supplies to get me to my next destination.

Mountain House--The #1 Backpacking Food! You can find bug out vehicles on eBay, craigslist and you local Sunday Newspaper.  They are there just pay attention.  You could just modify your old truck or vehicle and make sure you have some items that can get you through a couple of days in case of an emergency. The Optimus Crux Stove Is What I am going to cook Ramen Noodles In.

Yeah that's what I said.  I would love to get my hands on a Optimus Crux Lite with Tera Solo cook Set   I think it would fit quite nice in my bug out bag.  So many products are out on the market to make surviving way easier then it was.  This stove would come in handy for me.  If you were out tracking your deer that you shot and you had to stay and make shelter you could fire this stove up and heat water to add your freeze dried beef stew which by the way is delicious.

I really would like to purchase this stove.  I love the look of  the handles.  They say that you can boil water in 3 minutes on this thing.  I have seen some on you tube and they say it can boil in 1 min and 50 secs.  I just love it cause it can fit in your bag and you have fuel a pot and a lid all in one.  I may just have to bring a little bottle of vegetable oil and fry up some good catfish that I know I would catch.  If you are in the market for a stove read some reviews at amazon and decide for yourself.

Exped DreamWalker 650 Sleeping Bag I Want This In My Bug Out Bag

This Exped DreamWalker 650 sleeping bag looks amazing.  The price is amazing almost.  This sleeping bag converts from a sleeping bag to a blanket or a camp coat.  When you wake up in the morning you can just get up and walk around.  The jacket/sleeping bag is a 100% goose down and can stand temperatures from -6 degrees Celsius/20 degrees Fahrenheit.  They say that you will not experience any cold spots while wrapped up in this sleeping bag/goose down coat.

When I add this to my collection I will check it out.  I would like to use this on a mock 30 day survival test. I have had many cheap sleeping bags and have woken up with cold feet, broken zippers.  ant's in my sleeping bag you name it.  I have read meany reviews and they save it does a pretty good job with the moisture protection.  I guess that would come in handy if you sweat a lot.   It does have pocket hand warmers to keep your hand from getting cold.  You can lock in your body heat with this sleeping bag.  The cold does not really stand a chance from all the reviews I have read.  The bag has a 5 year warranty and that is a lot for a sleeping bag.  I love that about  this sleeping bag.

Here are some specs that come from Amazon.
  • Converts easily from sleeping bag to camp coat
  • Unique insulated hood with easy adjustments for clear vision
  • Chin guard insulates against cold zipper
  • Insulated draft tubes protect arm accesses
  • Soft draft tube collar offers complete adjustment, and prevents heat loss
  • Insulated, hand warmer pockets also hold personal items
  • Locking zippers adjust from either side
  • Reflective, glow-in-the-dark zipper pulls
  • Stiffener behind the zipper prevents snags
  • Double tuck-stitch design for extra durability and moisture protection
  • Bar-tacked stress points for extra strength
  • Includes a mesh storage bag and a waterproof fold-n-roll closure stuff sack
Specifications:
  • Overall weight: 2.67 ounces (medium); 3.43 ounces (large)
  • Down fill weight: 1.44 ounces (medium); 1.78 ounces (large)
  • Packed Dimensions: 12 x 7 inches (medium); 13 x 7 inches (large)
  • Fits lengths to: 75 inches (medium); 83 inches (large)
  • Shell material: Texped PA35 Ripstop Nylon
  • Lining material: Texped PR 58 Ripstop polyester
  • Fill content: 750 fill Goose Down

Temperature rating EN 13537:
  • Traditional North American Rating = -6 degrees Celsius/ 20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Upper Comfort Limit: 15 degrees Celsius/ 59 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Comfort Women: 2 degrees Celsius/ 36 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Comfort Men: -3 degrees Celsius/ 27 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Lower Extreme Limit: -6 degrees Celsius/ 20 degrees Fahrenheit

I would love to get my hands on this sleeping bag.  It has a hefty price tag but from all the reviews I have ready it seems like it is worth it to me.  I think it is really neat that you can get up in the middle of the night and still be warm.  Have you ever got up in the middle of the night out of your sleeping bag?  The air outside is so cold you exhale icicles.  This sleeping bag is heavy so don't try and pack your bug out bag so heavy that you can't add the DreamWalker 650.   Make sure you take a look at your bug out bag checklist and take off any extra stuff so you can add this bag.  I know if I get this bag I would be waking in heaven around my campsite.  Then I realized I was wearing the Dream Walker 650 in my dreams.   It's always nice to dream.  "Don't Judge Me".  Survive your dreams and buy the DreamWalker 650.

Living Off The Land So You Can Start A Farm

Living Off The Land So You Can Start A Farm.  If I could this is how I would do it.  There is no wrong or right way but If I had to do it then this is what I would do. You can start a farm on 1/4 on an acre.  Could you make it if you had to start all over?  I am not sure but I would damn sure try.  I would first start and on a hunt and look for some fresh water.  I  would look for a nice property on the fresh water source.  I am not sure on how I would get water to the property but I know I need to have that to survive.

I would love a root cellar to store all of the goodies that I would have canned from that years harvest.  I am talking about going wilderness family.  I have nothing but wood so  I would start cutting down some trees to make my shelter and then store some wood away for the winter.  A wood stove would be a must so I could heat my small bug out shelter or my home.

I would hope I would have sufficient tools with me.  I would love to have some horses so I could plow the field to plant some great vegetables and beans to grow so I can last during the winter.  I would have some chickens, rabbits, cows and pigs.  All those animals would need feed.  That is when it gets tricky and surviving in the wild becomes a crazy thing to think about. Lol.

I can't forget about my pond that I would have or have built my cabin near.  I would hope to have catfish and all kinds of fish to fill my belly if I needed to.  That reminds me I would like to have a worm farm so I can have fresh night crawlers at my fingertips.  Ohh So many things you need for self reliant living.  I am going to have to break this process down in steps.  I would plan to start a farm as soon at my shelter was built. I need to practice on my urban survival skills on farming.  Next time  I will go into detail on the way I would start a farm.

Best Survival Knife For Your Bug Out Bag

Best Survival Knife For Your Bug Out Bag.  Do you have a knife that you just love.  What knife would you put in your get home bag.  When It comes to knives you have so many choices.  This is a knife that I would like to have. Gerber 22-01400 LMF II Survival Knife

Here are some of the reasons I would love to add this knife to my bug out bag checklist.

  • The knife has a stainless steel buttcap on the end of the knife that can pierce glass.
  • It has a built in sharpener and include a sheath.
  • Serrated blade
  • Molle straps on the case.
  • Made in the USA.
This is a really nice knife.  Gerber make really great survival products.  I have a multi-tool from them that was made over 25 years ago and it still works like new.  I would love to try out my urban survival skills with this knife by my side.

Bee Keeping Is A Skill That I Would Like To Master

They say that the bees are dying off.  They won't die if I purchase this beekeeping kit.  In my hometown I had notice that someone had a beehive sitting in the middle of their yard.

I think if everyone did their part then things would go back in balance.  You could become a part of the Survivalist Nation  I plan to have a beekeeping set up on my land.  I can have fresh honey and my fruit trees and plants would appreciate this also.

The kit that I have in mind on purchasing is the
Bee Hive - 8 Frame Deluxe Beehive Starter Kit.

The things that stand out to me are
  • Has everything you need to get started
  • Is great for your community to have
  • You can add other hives if needed
  • Other frames are 10 this is 8 frames
They say this kit has a lot of parts and takes a while to assemble and to make sure you have the household common tools.  I don't mind.  I just don't want to have it put together all half-ass.  I would rather take my time and have it done right.

I will be living off the land and I can't wait until I make this purchase.  I just found out in my city that some people have them on roofs.  I think that is so neat.  I would love to have this kit at my bug out shelter.  You could save a lot of money if you shopped around and bought each item that comes with the kit but it would take you a lot of time and that is something I don't have a lot.  If you are in the market for a bee keeping kit than check it out.

What Do You Have On Your Bug Out Bag Checklist?

What Do You Have On Your Bug Out Bag Checklist?   If you could only take 10 items with you what would it be.
What you gonna put in your bug out bag?

The Basics That You Need!
Now you have seven more items to add in you bag to make sure you can live for the next few weeks.  Well here are my other items I would add into my bug out bag.  Do you think that building a bug out bag is easy?  You need to come up with a bug out list and really study on how to make and pack the bag.  I would rather have some things in the bag then none at all.

This is just a sample of my list.  No persons list is perfect.  If you want to join a membership for survival here is an option to choose from.  I have  been searching around and this looks like something I would try.  Check it out and let me know what you think of the Ultimate Survival Plan Membership!

I want this Hatchet.  If  I had this I would be chopping everything down.  If I was in the woods and I saw   Jason or Freddy Krueger they can get the business.   If you like the review the get one at Amazon.

Picking The Correct Bag To Bug Out With

What If you had to bug out and leave your home right this instan?  What bag would you use as your bug out bag?  You have so many options to choose from.  Some bags have frames on them,  some bags have a water bladder in it so you can store your water right on your bag.  I like some of the new bags that have solar panels on them.   They can recharge your kindle, phone and ipad.

I am not sure on what kind of bag I would choose to bug out with.  I think I would use a black bag instead of a camo green one.  I just think black looks better and still can be used in stealth situations.  The bag should be able to hold a lot of items.  Your survival will be depending on that.  What good is a bug out bag if you can't really hold anything int it.  You might as well just carry some Walmart bags to carry your stuff and hope for the best
.

This bag has a lot of great reviews Condor Compact Assault Pack

Just fill it with your bug out bag goodies and get the hell outta dodge.  If you are unsure on how to make a bug out bag then you can order Bug Out Bag Essentials!  It has helped me make a bag and learn how to make a bug out bag checklist that every family needs.  When I first made my own bag, I had it filled with stuff that was just unnecessary and was making my bag to heavy.

Your Bug Out Bag Should Have a Leatherman 831426 Wingman Multi-Tool

Your Bug Out Bag Should Have a Leatherman 831426 Wingman Multi-Tool.  This is a great addition to add to your bug out bag checklist.  The reviews for this multi-tool are amazing.  This is a great tool to get for a young kid or someone who is just starting out.

This mufti-tool comes with the basics.  You have a knife, scissors that are spring loaded.  The knife is sharp.  What I look for in a mufti tool is if it has a  phillips and and a flat screwdriver, a bottle opener, and last but not least you need a pair of wire cutters so you can get your MacGyver On.  If you don't know who MacGyver is then check out the tv show on dvd at Amazon.  In the first episode he had a multi-tool that he used on the show.I

I love the pocket clip that comes with it.  The quality for this Leatherman is outstanding. and it is made in the USA.  This a great starter multi-tool to have on hand in case you have to get in your bug out vehicle and bug the hell out.  On your next camping trip or bug out practice section make sure you have the Leatherman 831426 Wingman Multi-Tool on your bug out bag checklist.

Pros
  • Bottle Opener
  • Spring loaded scissors
  • Excellent pliers
  • Very Great Price

Cons
  • Hard to find the large knife blade
  • pocket clip makes the tool feel bulky ( I like and want the pocket clip)
  • knife blade seems a little thin

This is a great Multi-Tool and is great for a starter.  Check out other Leathermans that you may like

Camping Meals That You Can Add To Your Bug Out Bag Checklist

Camping Meals That You Can Add To Your Bug Out Bag Checklist.  You can add lots of 'meals to your bug out bag.  When you make a bug out bag make sure you have the basics.  Water, Food, and Shelter.  This is very important.  I can't stress enough.

I have had lots of MRE's (Meals Ready To Eat)  They are all a great food sources that you can add to you bag.  You can catch lots of auctions on eBay or check Amazon.com.  Imagine you have been walking all day and then it is time for you to rest.  You are starving like a foreign hostage. What are you going to eat.  Well you could start by adding hot water to your Wise Company Grab and Go Meal Packet.

I don't know what kind of meals other people would have in their bug out bag, but I know I would have lots of good meals in mine.  I had a chance to taste The chili macaroni at a gun and knife show.  It was really good.  I love that the meals are easy to prepare.  All you need to do is get 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil add in the contents of the meal package and then stir it well.  Do you know how to start a fire?  What I do is turn of the heat, cover it and let the meal stand for about 14 minutes.   During this time I will stir it also.  Take the cover off and let it cool down for about 3 or 4 mins and then you have a great meal that give you protein to survive another day.

Who said camping meals won't come in handy on your bug out bag checklist.  The entrees come in different  recipes.  Savory Stroganoff,  Creamy Ala King and Rice, Cheesy Lasagna, Creamy Pasta and Vegetable Rotini, Pasta Alfredo,  Teriyaki and Rice and My favorite Chili Macaroni. The say these meals can last 25 years if they are stored correctly.  This Bucket of Meals can last an adult for 1 month and 4 adults for a week.  Next time your looking for some meals to add to your get home bag the check out some items.

What would you do if you had to leave your home quickly and never return.

Not many people have been asked that question.  What would you do?  What would you take with you?  You need to be prepared in case of a disaster and an emergency.  You could start out small and get a backpack for each member of your family.  In each bag you need to have a prepackaged meal. a bottle of water, 1 small pan and canteen cup with metal utensils, knife and a gun and ammo.  Sleeping blanket, some matches, toilet paper, compass  light sticks, candle, fish hooks and bottle of power bait. space blanket, you look up BUG-OUT and you will get the idea.  You need to have things planned out.  Do this before you do anything else.  Learn to survive and stay alive.
Here are some links that you can use to help.
